Northern Right Capital Management

I. Basics

Northern Right Capital Management, LP is a boutique equity investment firm managing a concentrated, best ideas strategy in both a long-only and long-short format. With a bias toward small and mid-cap companies, we target high-quality businesses with misunderstood value drivers across secular growth assets, special situation investments, and high yield equities.

Launched in 2015, Northern Right has a proven track record of creating value. As the largest investor in the firm, we have a strong alignment of interest with our long-term client partners.

Matthew A. Drapkin is an American investor and corporate director who serves as Chief Executive Officer and Portfolio Manager of Northern Right Capital Management, an alternative asset manager focused on concentrated investments in small- and mid-cap public companies, and he is also Vice Chairman of Great Elm Group, Inc., Chairman of Great Elm Capital Corp., and Executive Chairman of Boardroom Alpha, drawing on prior experience as Head of Research and Special Situations at ENSO Capital, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at MacAndrews & Forbes (where he worked on multi‑billion‑dollar transactions), earlier operating and digital-media roles at Condé Nast (including General Manager of Epicurious.com and Concierge.com), and his start as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, supported by a Bachelor’s degree in American history from Princeton University and a joint J.D./M.B.A. from Columbia University.
